"the pizza here is delicious! Yummy! The crust is unforgettable! I always crave it. Be careful, may be addictive."
I used to get deliveries fairly often from here but the last time was about 6 months ago. They delivered two hours after I ordered, which was pretty bad but I didn't grumble too much until I opened it and found my pizza to be ice cold. I called them to ask about refund / replacement and basically what they told me was - the driver got stuck in traffic / tough luck. I have'nt gone back since

I give this place a 2 star since the pizza is just not that good. I've tasted better, I use to live around the corner from this spot and would go out my way to not go here.
Yummy! Their pizza is so good. I don't order anything else there. I ordered a sandwich once and didn't think much of it. If you stick to the pizza, you can't go wrong. My favorite pizza is the Irish pizza. There's not really anything Irish about it, but that's ok....it's still good. Unfortunately, it's only available as a whole pizza vs by the slice. The pizza has ham, grilled chicken, sweet corn, & green bell peppers. I do tweak it a little bit. I replace the bell peppers with mushrooms. Oh yeah, they do have good mozzarella sticks with really good marinara sauce.
I first order from here because they deliver quite late every night but especially on weekends. They also used to have a gyro pizza (something like that) that was good but I haven't seen it on the new menu that was stuck in the door recently. I have a hard time with processed tomato acid, so the gyro pizza worked out great and had a "different" taste (little bits of gyro meat in a cream sauce, etc.). And they also offer fried shrimp, scallops and fish for our vegetarian. By and large, I don't like the pizzas in San Francisco (I'm used to Chicago pizza which I grew up on, and NYC pizza from my misspent youth) but I liked the gyro pizza--wonder where it went and if I can get the guys to make me one every now and then. It's a pizza place that's open late--and isn't a large franchise chain. In other words, it could be worse.
After a week living out of a hotel room, eating crappy bland food from chain restaurants, sitting on the runway for an hour right as an amuse bouche to a six hour flight, then having the airline lose (oh, I mean "mis-route") my luggage and having to be trapped in the glass cube that was the Virgin America luggage office with a one year old in a loaded diaper, Irving Pizza sure hit the spot. Did I care that I had to dump approximately 2 tablespoons of oil off it? No, because I was finally finally home in San Francisco, where we saw a nipple at the adjacent table and the guardian open to the back pages on our table. Home sweet home at last. Grease never tasted so good!
Why do I go out and booze like a champ on an empty stomach? Becasue the bar tab is less, DUH!
Well, due to me being a cheap drunk, I had to get something in my belly so I wouldn't puke up all my whiskey. I saw Irving Pizza after exiting Whiskey Thieves and decided with my intoxicated brain that this place couldn't be too bad.
I was WRONG! Thick cardboard crust covered in greasy cheese and rubbery pepperoni. And boy oh boy, did I wake up with the stomach cramps only the devil himself could inflict upon a pizza sinner. Yes, I sinned for purchasing and consuming cheap nasty pizza on a Friday night. I vow to never again make this mistake! Please forgive me tummy......

I got the Irving Special. The pizza was good, not the best pizza I have ever had, but pretty tasy. Would have been four stars. Let me tell you why you see only three.
I live a about a block and a half from this place. 2 minute walk. Me and the husband both put in a long day at our offices, and we got home around 8. We were tired, so we opted for an effortless dinner of pizza. I called and put in the order, and I hear the words FREE DELIVERY. After the day I have had that is music to my ears. I have time to shower change into PJ's and FEAST! Just like they said, 45 minutes later the pizza delivery guy arrives in a car. "That is strange" I am thinking to myself. The place is a two minute walk. As I open the box it all starts to make sense. This pizza was barely warm! I was at the end of a much longer delivery route. I LIVE AROUND THE CORNER! You could not walk my pizza over when it was ready? No. You put it in the car, drove it around for 30 minutes, and then brought it to me!
My first slice I microwaved enough to warm it up. My second slice I microwaved it enough to make the grease reappear. mmmmm. Then I went to bed with a tummy ache because my digestive system is whimpy and not used to so much grease and meat all at once.
So I will return because it was yummy, but I will get off my lazy ass and go pick it up myself.
Need a pizza fix when you've just walked 7 miles in 6 inch platform boots? Apparently this is the place!
I have pictures from inside this joint...I know I tasted good pizza, even if it was only a bite. Most important was the fact that they had bathrooms....the half pint of vodka I had drank over the few hours prior to arriving was finally activating my bladder.
Ehm, I'd definitely recommend...and I'll go back so I can try and remember how good the pizza actually was!

If you're in the mood for late night snacking or a decent pizza fix, this is the place to go. It's a small place with a average amount of tables to sit at. The only thing is that I don't know how long their pies sit out in the open, underneath the heat lamps...
It's pizza, so how bad could it really be? Well...to be honest, I have just made up my mind- I don't like Irving PIzza. It's very bland and tasteless, and honestly, who knows how long some of those slices of pizza have been sitting out before you come along and order it by the slice? In my experience, I have had better luck with their pizza when ordering an entire pie, and not by the slice...and it tastes even better after a few drinks from the many bars in this joints proximity.
Their salads are pathetic, and when they say there is chicken on the salads, they mean cut up pieces of fried chicken fingers with a few chunks of iceburg lettuce, a few shredded carrots and olives. They're not very good, or filling.
My boyfriend has had their Philly cheese steak sandwich, and said it was WAY too salty. And he was also highly disappointed by their calamari and fish and chips. I had a good meatball sub there once though, and it came with a good amount of steak fries.
I stumbled in here at around 12:15 AM yesterday (which was a sunday)... and the place was still open, nice!
for what it is, the pizza is pretty decent. If I'm around here next time it's late and I'm hungry I'll come grab a slice.

It's my neighborhood pizza place and I love it. The folks who work here are chill. I always ask for "light cheese," which means about half the amount of cheese (not skim milk cheese as it might seem). Otherwise they put a quarter-inch think layer of the stuff on the pizza which is too much for me. But with light cheese, it's easier to appreciate the great flavor of the sauce and crust.
at $3.50 a slice, it's typical of what you'd expect, but i thought this beat out most average pizza joints. the slices are a tad larger than most, and pretty good. the combo pizza they definitely packed the sausage on, so they're not shafting you there. the hawaiian, they dump on the pineapples. if you like a crispier crust, ask for it "well done".
i'd definitely come back here. there is zero ambiance, but hey, it's pizza. take it to go, and go across the street to underdogs and watch the game! and unlike most joints, their "frequent buyer" needs only 6 slices to get a free one. seriously thats 50% less than most!
Great place to grab pizza for lunch. I've been here a few times with my brother and it always seems to hit the spot. Probably because of all the greasy goodness that each slice of pizza holds. They sell by the slice and we always each get the 2 fat pepperoni slices + soda deal. Well worth it.
This place is less than 10 blocks from home, so it's convenient. It's relatively small but it's never too busy. They have a small TV there to watch, from what I remember it's usually on BET. One time Alicia Key's music video was on and a lady, who was by herself, started to talk out loud. "She can't sing! She can't dance!" Yeah, you're bound to meet a few characters out on this side of Irving.
There are quite a few other items on the menu, but I doubt I am going to try them anytime soon. When I come here, I come here for the NY style pizza.
Nice little NY Pizza joint & they sell by the slice, so that's always a plus. I had 3 slices my first time here...just to give you an idea on what I thought about it. It's got some "hometown" decor to it, not sure how long it's been around but it looks like it's got it's 'locals'. You also gotta love how it's open late night! I read some people's reviews about it being greasy or floppy crusted...umm, yeah, that's what New York style pizza is. Just fyi.

Fish n' Chips in the UK is the best thing you can put in your stomach... Living in SF, this is something I yearn constantly... Ive tried to make to Fish n' Chips at home, and although they turn out good and fill me up, it does not do the justice not satiate my tastebuds for proper Fish n' Chips... There is just something about 2 huge fillets of white fish, battered, and deep fried with chips... and on top of that, a heavy dose of malt vinegar and salt... you just cant beat it... one of the best things in the world.....
Now to Irving Pizzeria... Even though this is a pizza joint, they have the best french fries/chips.... they are thick cut, golden, crunchy on the outside and fluffy potato heaven inside... Although their are many places in the city that serve up good french fries/curly fries, there is something unique and reminiscent of these fries that always reminds me of the UK....
Now I just have to find some good UK Fish in the Bay....

This place holds a special place in my heart, mainly because it's close to where a lot of my friends live. Also the pizza is pretty damn good too. i recommend their pesto and the cheese. They are always friendly and they are always watching either sports or seinfeld which is always a nice added bonus when you are waiting for your pizza. I like to think of this place as the calmer friendlier version of "Escape From New York Pizza" but that might just be because it's in the Sunset. Anyways
Chill atmosphere
Chill staff
good pizza
good cheap pitchers of beer

Really good pizza. So many memories going here when i usta live just around the block. Dont fuck with the owners they carry a shotgun behind the register! Damn i really miss Irving street and this part of town.
2 star pizza in the daytime...there are better places to visit.
4 star pizza late night after binging on drinks...thin, crisp, hot, convenient and fast!
They're basically my late night "booty call" for my stomach.

The pizzas are ehhh...
Heavy on grease, plain tasting, very thin floppy crust...
The pizzas just sit out, lookin all dry... take ur pick, and they'll quickly reheat it in the oven for u. Better than cold i guess... 8)
It is wat it is, a late nite pizza joint to crash...
+3 stars, quick service, television, lots of seating, convenient location

Irving Pizza is the first stop after the first fifth of J.B. is gone dictating a return trip to Jerry's Liquor next door. I'll stop in and order a slice before i go get more beer and/or booze.
Remember: Pesto, pesto, pesto. The pepperoni is a little too greasy. Oh & get 3 slices before a small pizza, you save money.
I avoid eating here sober since i do it so much intoxicated .... don't' want to spoil the party, as they say.
This is the closest pizza place to me. They will even deliver to my place for free. One might think that would be enough for 3 stars, but it isn't. I will get in my car and drive somewhere else even when I really don't want to leave the house and NEED pizza right now. The pizza here just isn't that good. Not as bad as Pizza Orgasmica, but still pretty crappy. Better yet, I'll go with frozen pizza over this place.

U can definitely get better pizza almost everywhere else. Dont go here, they suck.
Since they are open til the early A.M they allow the place to overcrowd and for people to literally get killed. If they would close down earlier and follow their facilities fire hazzard max capacity rule, 2 men would still be alive today.
I think the only times i've gone to Irving Pizza is late night...the pizzas here are delicious and filling when intoxicated, considering its usually 2AM-3AM when nothing else is open!!
maybe i will update when i try it during the day, sober.
Food = okay Wings were dry. Pizza was mediocre. Nothing to rave about. Sandwiches were made to order, decent sized but nothing special either.
Service = friendly, but they just take the order, and leave ya alone.
Decor = a few tables, some chairs and a TV.
Cost = cheap
Parking's a pain.

When your on your way home from a night of parlayin this pizza is not bad at all. It was like 2:30 in the morning and one of the only places open on our way back to my friend's house so we stopped to get to a few slices 1 cheese and the other veggie and it sopped up those jack & cokes pretty well.
Late night pizza and beer. Pizza by the slice also! Thin crust. And on their sausage pizza, they weren't skimping on the sausage, it was covered, which I was sooooo happy beyond belief about!
Cannot complain about the place at all.
And on top of it all, they tolerate our drunk little group.
It's open late and they sell beer with their mediocre pizza. Perfect for all the drunks to stumble to when the bars kick them out. Hurrah.
Crispy crust that holds the goodies without disintegrating. Always something good on TV. Pepperoni that has taste in addition to texture. And since this is a late-night kind of place when everywhere else is closed, parking is never a problem, even for this neighborhood.
And if you're not in the mood for pizza, you're sure to find something in the 20th/Irving "gauntlet" to satisfy your craving: KFC, PPQ, Chabaa Thai, Wonderful Foods, ...

Mmm, beer and slices late night in the Sunset. Bless you, Irving Pizza! You never even look at me funny when I order a pitcher of beer and I'm obviously by myself.
The pizza's not the best, and neither are the sandwiches. The beer is delicious, and the hours are right. Plus they have a TV that often shows the Giants' game. F*ck it. Five stars.
I can only assume parking's a bitch if you come while the city's not asleep.

My housemate orders this pizza all the time...
I can't resist pizza, I love it.
But I've gotten sick from irving pizza 2 times. What are you putting in your pizza people? Stop it, because I can't stop eating you.
----------------
So you know how I said I eat this pizza all the time because it there, all the time. I don't get sick anymore. I think it was fluke... I think this is the best pizza in the sunset. Really fast delivery too.
It is greasy... but that's why you blot it, like all pizza :)
Man, everyone who says they don't like this place probably grew up on the West coast. On the East Coast this pizza would be passable, but in SF, it's the best NY style pizza you can get- and I've been looking. You want grease and cheese on a real pizza crust go to Irving Pizza. You want tofu and bean sprouts go to CPK.

I love delivery because I am lazy. I also love delivery because I find it an invaluable service when I am extremely hung over and in need of nourishment. I've finally realized that there really is no good pizza delivery in the sunset.
Irving pizza really beats the competition. Always delivered piping hot, with the proportionate amount of sauce and cheese. The crust is pretty good too. I also enjoy that they have a really extensive menu (sandwiches, salads, buffalo wings, chicken strips, jalapeno poppers [yesss!], fish and chips, even gyros). The salads...not so much. One of these days, hungover at home, I'm gonna go crazy and order every random item on the menu.

I wish they would deliver to my side of town, but they're worth the trek! This is the BEST pizza in the city, hands down. I used to go gaga over blondies, but Irving is, and will always be, my go to for my monthly pizza craving.
Irving Pizza is not the best pizza I've ever had, not even close. That being said, there is something irresistible about the smell of it when I'm stumbling home from Durty Nelly's. Thumbs up for generous punches on their punch card system (free pizza and soda after a certain # of punches).

I stopped by to have a slice since I always walk by after work. I decided to go in and try a slice since the slices looked great from the window. Before I could even enjoy my barely cook pizza, the guys took my cash and gave me my change. I proceeded to watch him NOT wash his hands after handling money and touch my slice with his bare hands.
All it takes is for one mistake like that for me to never come back again. Handling money and not washing your hands before handling food is a NO NO.

The best thing about Irving Pizza is: it's there. It is open and they deliver Sun-Thurs 11am-2am, on Friday and Saturday until 3am.
Yep, it's there and it's open, and the pizza is edible, and you can buy slices, and they sell beer and wine and soda.
Just noticed they have some weird sounding "House Specials" like the Irish Special with chicken, ham, sweet corn and bell pepper. Sounds like an insult to the Irish and the pizza.

One of the few places that sells slices, especially past 1am, which is the only time I am ever there. It is the ultimate place after some sunset bar hopping when you need some drunk food. The main guy who is behind the counter must be a millionare by now since I have dumped a couple hundred bucks into this place over the past year and a half.
Also, they are great when it comes to field trips with young kids. I took a group of about 20+ kids here for a pizza party, and they majorly hooked us up, and during lunch time no less! They pushed together the tables, got the food out to us quick, and even comped us our sodas.
If I could give these guys 6 stars I would, just for their customer service!
The slices are huge and tasty
Pizza is greasier than the average....
Hours are good.
I first experienced Irving Pizza down in the TL after seeing a show @ the GAMH. My g-friend and I got a slice and were immediately impressed. Finally a freakin' pizza shop in SF has figured out that REAL pizza has a thin crust and a healthy amount of sauce.
DO: Order delivery from their Irving St. location, duh get it. The pie was really good but I do not recommend their salad. Average and the dressing is the Newman's that comes in a ketchup type McD's pouch.
Pizza shops in SF I like: Escape from NY on haight st, Victor's on Polk, and Giorgio's on Clement
