4 stars for the fact that it's a corporate chain, but the push smoothies outta here like Omar slangs crack on The Wire.

I never really come down to Chestnut to eat, but it was blazing hot and nothing sounded better than a calorie laden frozen bev.  I hoofed it down here and was so excited to see that they have lower calorie options!  There are a choice of 3 smoothies under 180 calories (if you get the small) so I ordered a Strawberry Nirvana.  The place is super clean, the employees are hardworking and quick and there's a big book of nutrition info right there (although, 99% of the drinks have over 500 calories and are made with ice cream or sherbet, so I doubt you come here for the "nutritious" drink).

The smoothie was great and I'm stoked to have found a cool, low-cal option for this friggin' heat wave!

Almost a year later and I'm still addicted to this place!  Still love my Orange Dream Machine the best.  It's definitely a childhood comfort drink that tastes like 50/50 bars or creamsicles!  But, I'm also a fan of the Banana Berry.  I usually get a vita boost and an Omega boosts.  Love those boosts!  Stick with the 16oz if you're watching your calories and make sure it's a meal replacement.  The staff is great....Norman's a sweetie and always remembers my name.  This place definitely doesn't feel like a chain.

Um...does Jamba Juice need a review?  Aren't they pretty much everywhere?   I would think most people have an opinion about Jamba Juice, whether it be good or bad.

Apparently not, as I recently saw somebody ordering in this Jamba Juice location who was completely unfamiliar with Jamba Juice.  It was cute, interesting, and really annoying at the same time (kind of like me, except I don't have the annoying part).

Anyway...Jamba Juice is a smoothie and juice (kind of) place for those of you who live in caves and perhaps those of you from whatever parts of the country don't have Jamba Juice (maybe some rural area or something, I honestly don't know).  I will say plenty of places make a better smoothie than Jamba Juice, but I still like Jamba Juice.

This location has a pretty friendly staff and usually not too long of lines, even on the weekend (although I'm sure I drum up business as I walk around on sunny days with my Jamba Juice and people think "I wish I could be like that guy")

I'm not really going to tell you what Jamba to get, because they are all fairly similar and it is a matter of personal preference anyway.  I will say that the of the non-typical smoothies (i.e., not just fruit flavors), my favorites are the red tea one and the peanut butter one (it is actually good, believe it or not).

3 stars for the slow-poke juice blender girl!! So, it was like 70 degrees today and super sunny. Was in the neighborhood and a smoothie sounded like suuuuch a good idea. Went to JJ and there wasn't really a line. There was only one girl mixing up the drinks and it seemed like she was moving in super slow motion - sloowly put the bananas in, sloowly put the strawberries in, slooooowly blend the drink, knock the container with hand to get the drink out. OMG I went down to Lucca's and checked out the sandwiches and my drink was just barely done! Ok, maybe she was overheated, but it's the slowest person I've ever seen work there....

Okay, so I'm on a mission now.

My favorite smoothie place, Surf City Squeeze, got put out of business by Jamba Juice, and now I'm annoyed that I can't get anything other than the double J.

When I first moved to San Francisco several years ago, I was so excited to have a chain like Jamba Juice offering healthy alternatives on every corner. Now that I can't find anything else, though, I'm a little miffed. Tired of all the same flavors, I decided to take JJ up on their "substitute any fruit" offer. I asked for a banana smoothie with nothing else. I've now tried it at different JJs, sometimes with juice, sometimes with nondairy mix, sometimes with the sherbet...as many different ways as I could. Here's the thing, though--it doesn't taste like banana. It tastes like chemical supplements, no matter what they mix with it. Now I can't have any jamba juice smoothie without tasting that chemical taste. It's really unfortunate, but I just want something that's really just fruit.

The kicker for me was seeing that JJ is dominating in Kona on a recent trip to Hawaii. On an island where mangos, papayas, oranges, bananas, persimmons, lemons, and all kinds of other fruit grow outside your window, they make the same formulaic chemical smoothies. Very sad.

For now, I'll stick to my blender and a good produce selection.

Brain FREEZE byotch!!!
Good stuff! Where else are you going to get all those fruits from in a daily diet inundated with fried food and other processed crap!?
And the boost... I get the vitamin to ensure I get all the good stuff my body needs--the stuff I otherwise would not get.
It's all good, except for the brain freeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Saturday mornings after my usual pampering, I order the Original Caribbean Passion with the free Energy boost split into two cups, cause sharing is caring.

The non-eco friendly styrafoam cups kept the drinks colder tho ;p

Yummy, but oh so fattening! I about died when I read the nutrition facts on most of the stuff I like! There are a lot more calories in these than you'd think!

That said, these totally kick ass when you're sick. This is all I want when I have a sore throat... and yes, it makes me feel like Im "taking care of myself." (Yeah right, but a girl can dream...)

Definitely a chain I like but not one you should go to often unless that's all you plan to eat/drink that day!

I lost my voice.  I feel like shit.  I am starting to feel better, so while running errands I thought to myself:  self, let's go get jamba juice.

I was overly excited at the thought of frozen juicy goodness on my sore throat, when alas!

Jamba juice was closed.

What happened to real smoothies?   Jamba Juice is all sugar.  Some say they don't use a lot of sugar - instead they use sorbet.  Sorbet is sugar, fancy name not withstanding.

Personally I think they're smoothies are disgusting.  They are sweeter than cola and only slightly more healthy.  Yes they are better than the fake fruit crap sold at some place, but they are not blended fresh fruit like people seem to think they are.  It boggles my mind that all these health nuts thing Jamba is any better than McDonald's.

They get two stars because most locations have excellent fresh carrot and orange juice.  Now that's good stuff. If only their smoothies were that way.

A chain that is sooo good.  You know this place is underrated.  I have never had a bad smoothie here and now they have good Blueberry muffins and pretzels.  Good staff and the smoothies are a great healthy snack or meal and are always Delicous.

Friendly staff that keeps on rocking even when the line is out the door. Chestnut street always had a more happy feel rather than union street, so I always choose this location rather than the other. Management here kicks butt as well, see it first hand during a disaster.

Educate yourselves people.

Jamba Juice of San Francisco, CA in consultation with the FDA is notifying the public that smoothies containing strawberries which were sold at its Jamba Juice stores in Arizona, Southern Nevada and Southern California between November 25 - December 1, 2006, may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes, is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The strawberry contamination came to light when one of Jamba Juice's suppliers --- Cleugh's Frozen Foods of Salinas, CA - notified the company that frozen strawberries from one of Cleugh's facilities tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. (See "Cleugh's Frozen Foods Inc. Recalls Frozen Strawberries Sold to Jamba Juice.")

In an effort to fully protect its customers, Jamba Juice immediately and voluntarily halted all shipments from the location where the Listeria was found and removed all strawberries provided by the production facility, including berries not believed to be impacted.  Every store that received shipments from the supplier's affected location have been cleaned and disinfected.

http://www.fda.gov/oc/...

But damn...they're Sunrise Strawberry is my favorite. 4 stars only because I was scared when that came out. And their smoothies aren't always consistent in taste or texture. Sometimes watery sometimes really thick.

This is easily my favorite Jamba Juice in the city. The staff is always very friendly (opposite of the one downstairs in Macy's) and the smoothies come out quickly. I like stopping by after going for a long walk or run, especially if it's nice outside.

LOVE the new "All Fruit" smoothies, since they have way fewer calories and are actually more refreshing. I recommend the Peach Perfection flavor.

Ooooh, Jamba! I only get one thing here...yes, over and over and over again. I love their Mango A-go-go. Perfectly sweet mango with the right amount of tang and citrusy kick for a really good wake-me-up smoothie. I like having it to start my day. While most of the time they're good...minus one star, because sometimes the smoothies are too dilute and not mildly frosty, which is how I like them best.

I have two friends who work here. One guy, one girl. I'd watch out for the girl.
Apparently if your not nice to her, she's not going to be nice to your drink. To protect myself, I won't release much detail. But her name starts with a B. And no, it isn't B*tch.

But as all other Jamba Juices, this is the same. A little smaller then the 9th and irving one, makes me feel a little clausterphobic. But I've been there many times since my time at Marina Middle School. I visit it about once a month now, since I attend Washington High. But this jamba juice is nicely located on a nice street. Don't shop around there if you are short on the bucks. Chestnut and Union st. aren't known for  being bargin streets. The only place I seem to go to on Chestnut is the Walgreens and Jamba Juice. The rest teenagers wouldn't be interested in (cept. Starbucks) because of the prices.

Hitting this spot in the AM makes me actually like morning people! How the staff can be so delightfully cheery at the crack of dawn (8am in my world) mystifies me. But they are and it's great. Especially when you're a bit under the weather and hoping a Coldbuster will help get you through the day. Speaking of which, that little gem of nutrients is really quite underrated. Three days of those immunity-packed babies will cure what ails you. The regimen's saved me more times than I can count.

Peanut butter smoothie?....Hmmm..

I just rediscovered peanut butter and they make the best smoothie with chocolate and peanut butter. Sure its like a million calories but you only live once - and that's why they invented running shoes and stuff.

So, after having a tonsilectomy and being a on stricked "soft diet" of popsicles, yogurt, ice-cream, jello etc.... I'm so glad Jamba Juice is around the block. All the flavors of smoothie's that my Doc will let me have.

If you ever find yourself recoverying from Tonsilectomy, well, get your caretakers to get you some Jamba Juice!!!

Their new Green Tea smoothie is to-die-for and during the holidays they have a fabulous pumpkin smoothie that will keep you coming back for more. In fact, my aunt flew all the way out here from Louisville just to fulfill her addiction.
