Milano has that thick doughy pizza crust, and fresh tasting marina sauce, that back in college would have killed it. The kind of pizza, that would make your neighbors come out of drunk hiding, and before you know it - everyone's face is crusted with tomato sauce.
My pizza taste I think has grown since college. I've tried Little Star and Paxti's - but Milano can still throw a mean punch. Though far from being a destination spot, Milano is a solid neighborhood spot. They serve up greasy fresh cooked Italian food, with their pizza being the real stand-out.
Four stars because they're open late, and as Megan said - they deliver.

I'm literally getting spoiled this week at work!
Like I said in my La Boulange review, when I work Monday and Tuesdays, I starve for 8 hours and it gets real hard since I usually eat like every damn hour.. This week has been the best. I get deliveries to my work place from people I love cuz they know I'm starving..
Thanks to my friend, I got a delivery from here to my work place cuz I was starving with no food what so ever for the whole day and it was already around 7 at night.
Love their pizza here! I had two BIG slices of pepperoni cheese pizza! Oh man, it was so big, after half a pizza, I was done. The crust was so good. It was loaded with WHOLE pepperoni slices, not pepperoni slices sliced in half like Giorgio's.... MmMMMmmm I suggest people coming here for slices!!
(Thanks Tracy A. for also spoiling me with my honey green tea! I love you!)
I wonder what's for lunch/dinner next week guys???

I wanted to try this place out since it seems to be one of Eugy's favorites and most memorable places to eat.
We got a medium pie with pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and garlic. It was ok, but where is the sauce?! The pizza was pretty dry. I had to ask for a cup of sauce on the side.
Won't be eating here again. Sorry Eugy...

Dayum. Veal parmagiana is totally rocking my taste buds right now! I can't vouch for the atmosphere since I got take out, but it looks cozy and fun.
Times visited: 1
It is just ok. I decided to try it out since there were either LOVED IT or HATED it kind of reviews...and it is really just average pizza. The dough is nothing to write home about, the toppings were just average. It certainly isn't to be avoided, but just meh. It is only one stage above frozen pizza from the grocery store, and thats because I don't have to bake it myself.
It is cash only, which really bothers me as a restaurant. Wake up and come to the 2000's...we've been here for a while, and the new society is plastic based. Come on in....

Love this place for the Sandwiches/Pasta/Salad. Still haven't gotted around to the pizza yet. Super friendly staff, really laid back atmosphere. We had 1 sausage/eggplant sando, 1 salad, 1 pasta dish and a pitcher of Peroni and got out of there for under $40.

I must add a disclaimer here: being from brooklyn, I'm a ridiculous pizza snob. i generally just don't eat pizza until i return to brooklyn to get my fix. in fact, after visiting naples, where pizza really came from, i couldn't bring myself to eat any pizza outside of naples for about 3 years. but when i really year for something close to the tastes of home, i usually order pizza from milano's. the trick here is to avoid pizza by the slice here. it's not that great (it's not great anywhere in the entire city). but the whole pies are excellent if you like ny style pizza. oh - and make no mistake. this is not the fancy, thin crust naples-esque pizza at gialina or delfina pizzeria. this is italian-american, nyc style pizza.
As an aficionado of pizza by the slice, this place is just okay. The crust is pretty good (crisp and a little sourdough-y, but too thick for my tastes) and the sauce is decent, but the cheese is terrible. It's really thick and gluey, and they put way too much extra cheese on the slices. That said, they have reasonable prices, decent beer specials, friendly service, and are open late.
I'll stop by for a slice and a beer again if I don't find a pizza joint that really speaks to me, but I wouldn't come for a meal with friends.
Good: Big slices. Smells really good walking by. Open fairly late.
Bad: Like too many single slice places tend to do, they take an old piece of pizza, but a topping on it, and throw it in the oven. The crust is average on a good day (i've only had it once).
I will only go back for a late night slice, as there is better pizza in the inner sunset.
great prices great pizza!!
ps, don't get the super veggie pizza here. they take an old slice of pizza, throw some veggies on it, and half rebake it. in the end, your veggies are raw. ew.

This is the truth: I was there with my friends Steve and Sherrie on opening night back in 1979 or so. It was a really good pizza then, but it's scary to think that Dennis (the young man who was making pizza back then) could well be a grandfather now. Yikes!
Good neighborhood joint. Go.

i use to be a huge fan of this place. not the greatest food but decent and enviroment was laid back. service has always been good until now. i placed a phone order and showed up 20 mins later to grab my order of small mushroom and pinapple pizza and an order of the roast chicken. when i got there the guy said about 10 more mins. okay, i am not a un-understanding guy (aka a-hole), so i offered to pay first and ordered a beer for there (even put a buck in the tip jar). i am now done with my beer and head to ask the guy again, he said sorry 5 more mins. okay i said. finally the chicken comes out. i see it and say awsome... now here is where its all f*cked up... he hands me the chicken and say thank you. excuse me, where is the pizza? they completely didn't even make it. i thought it was in one of those boxes on top of the oven keeping warm. he says they'll get on it right away and it will be 15 more mins. seeing that it's my 8 mth pregnant wife that wants the pizza i had no choice but to wait. the wife is calling me and while i am explaining the situation to her, the same guy comes up to me and ask if i had paid yet... i was furious! the owner needs to not hire people that cant handle their pot or crack while at work. bad for business. the guy didnt even offer to comp anything or give me another beer while waiting. i have always talked good about the place and always there for a pitcher with friend. you can forget that now. i am telling all my friend about this one. if they had a 0 star to give i would ask for a negative one for these guys. never again!
Really great pizza - I especially like the sauce & the thick yet crispy crust. They do slices too. The small salads are large enough to share for 2. Definitely request their homemade bread with your salad. Generally beer specials during Mon-Thurs - there were $2 pints on Wed.
The pizza is great here. The dough tastes more quality then most pizza shops I have visited, and they also have great beer specials. I wouldn't order much besides the pizza here though (the entrees are sub-par) and the only complaint I have about the pizza is that the topics are all basic, and nothing fancy.
Came here with 20 people. Granted that's a lot. I'd called the day before and they said it was all good. Everything went relatively smoothly. They converted pint night ($2 per) to a deal on a pitcher. Not $5 as in pitcher night, but $6 as in slightly discounted. Not the best selection of swill, but MGD had to do.
The pies were awesome. We got one of each of their specials, the greek, veggie, meat, and Jack and Dolores (the best- pesto, feta, canadian bacon and GARLIC!). Well-cooked, even the veggie one, which can often get soggy.
Service could have been a little better (no place settings at one of the tables for way too long, forgot to take one table's order, not enough napkins) but the beer and pizza were brought fast and hot/cold as appropriate.
I want to come again on pitcher night with a few people to enjoy the ambiance.
Omg. The most horrible pizza I have EVER eaten! I ordered a slice of cheese pizza (if you can even call it cheese) & as soon as she put it in front of me I almost gagged. The "cheese" had a very weird smell...almost like cheap melted butter. I tried to take some of it off since there was like an inch of cheese piled on top, but it had such a weird consistency it wouldn't let me do it. So I saved myselft a night of vomiting and diarrhea and just took it all off & just ate the bread & sauce (which was crappy too).
Please save yourself the trouble & don't ever eat here. & don't be tricked by the smell either...that's how my boyfriend & I got lured into the joint. We walked past the place & thought it smelled good so decided to try their pizza. Now when we walk past the place it makes us sick to our stomach. Save yourselves!!!
P.S. If you want the most delicious pizza ever go to Delfina Pizzeria (my boyfriend also wants me to add Toto's in San Bruno)
Fuck this place. I ordered the baked lasagna because our server made it sound good (I don't think she was trying to deceive me, I think she was just tired...not her fault at all.) When it came I was fucking horrified. It looked like a gunshot wound on my plate. It was covered with a good half inch of gelatinous and cheap mozzarella cheese. Watery and bloody looking tomato sauce was beading at the surface of this cheese skin, and when I finally managed to tear through it with my fucking KNIFE (my fork was useless against this thick and fibrous cheese) the blood spilled fourth, and it was all I could do to not vomit.
I don't care to comment on the service, or atmosphere, or beer or what have you because it's all moot. If I have to struggle to keep the contents of my stomach down, it's a bad place. Fuck this fucking place. Fucking fuck it to hell.
Actually, one comment on the service: They did what they could to accommodate me, and they seemed like hard working kids who have to put up with a lot of drunken bullshit on their later shifts, so they're cool. If you go here for some reason, tip them well.
Still...fuck this place.
BAD, BAD, BAD! Without a doubt, it was one of the worst meals I've ever had. The so-called marinara sauce I had on linguini with clams resembled leftover pizza sauce, the clams were straight out of a can, and the pizza tasted like the ones from the frozen isle ... could have done better buying one at the grocery store.
It really was awful ... hard to believe that a restaurant like this could stay in business.

This is a great neighborhood pizza joint.
Not the fanciest place in town, but your there for the food/beer.
Good beer specials (pitchers).
The dinners (lazagna, baked spag., etc.) are right on par with there pizza.
Never that crouded and the service is always pleasent.
MMMM...mmmm...GOOD!
Go there on Tuesday and Thursday, best beer specials ever!
3.75 for a pitcher! The pizzas are amazingly crispy and not so greasy. They also deliver! Come with some friends and enjoy!

The pizza here is ok. I usually come for the beer specials. Its been a while but I think its around $6 for a pitcher of beer. I just know its cheap and better than that wunder brewery shithole down the street. This is a good place for groups.
I grew up in this neighborhood, and, one Thanksgiving Day, while shopping for extra ingredients for the family feast brewing at home, my mom and I walked by good 'ol Milano's and--oops!--slipped inside to order some cheesy garlic bread and pizza, and sat right there and ate it. We then went home totally happy and continued cooking, telling no one of our holiday transgression.
Love this place!

Pizza is OK, not too greasy. I like Pizza Place on Noreiga, and Irving St. Pizza better. Service is good and friendly.
The pizza's so good - it almost makes me feel like I am back in NJ. Classic pizza place - not trying to do anything to fancy - they just make damn good pizza.
I love it. Just walk by - you won't be able to resist going in when you smell the deliciousness.
The second I walked in I could tell this was going to be good--it has that extra zesty "we know what we're doing" village pizza parlor smell, and the cozy, warmly lit interior nails the parlor feel better than any other spot in the city. It's a vibe I much prefer to the grab'n'go (eg, Blondie's, Escape From New York) or the pizza-bistro (eg, Delfina, Gialina) places. Heck, even Paradise and Noriega are really more of *neighborhood joints*, not *village parlors*. It's hard to describe, but somehow in my brain it all makes sense.
Crust is my favorite kind: hand-tossed, fairly thick, nice and chewy. You don't get cheated on the carbs, that's for sure. No complaints about toppings. And oh, if it's a tuesday or thursday, perhaps you'd care for a $3.75 PITCHER OF BEER? And not just god-awful Miller Lite, you can get Weinhard's (which, as a Northwesterner, I have an honest-to-God, non-ironic allegiance to). Could that be the best deal in the city? It just might.

Meh, ever since I stopped coming ever week... Milano's was my Cheers for about 7 or 8 months...... I have come in twice, once last Tuesday and then yesterday (also a Tuesday).
I think I may just be mad that my favorite people no longer work there and I don't get to walk in and say hey to everyone and have them call me by name.... reminisce... smile.
But it is different now, they don't know my name... last time the server did not even let me sit in the back like I always have!!!!!
So here were my qualms with last week. Each one is a minus server point
1. Did not let me sit in the back
2. Took our order but only took mine, I'm guessing because I said we... but I only meant me plus one other.. not like me and the other 3 people at the table.
3. My friend had to wave her down and then when he thought he got her attention, she told him to wait because she was seating a table (aka 3 people that had already walked toward a 3 person table) and had to ask how many people.... a good server would see 3 people, sitting at a 3 person table... and think maybe I should take the order of the people already here and bring these other people 3 menu's. But no.
4. She brings a pitcher of Sierra Nevada that is way under the line (which angers me because its not even foam, its just not filled). I wanted to say something but my friends said it was not a big deal (not a big deal till it only filled 3 glasses).
5. Brings a second pitcher that is the same... this I could not hold my tongue, so I politely say "I'm sorry, but that is not a full pitcher and the other one was like that as well". She apologizes and fills it, although I can see her talking smack from my seat.
After my pitcher and cheesy pesto garlic bread I calmed down and stopped acting like an angry high school girl who just had her boyfriend stolen by a total BI$@h. In this case my favorite staff being missing in action!
So in the end she explained to me that she was sorry for the miss pours and charged us for a miller instead which was $5 instead of $8..... so in the end I gave her a tip.... I was nice.
Then last night I came in and she let me sit in the back, I think she remembered me because our pitchers were quite full as well. She was almost overly nice and brought us water and frosted glasses, which I never see happen. I felt bad this day because my friends were supposed to meet us there and they bailed so we ended up drinking one pitcher and then leaving. But she was nice enough to still charge us the cheap price even though we spent no money on food. Your supposed to spend $5 a person to get the cheap price on Tuesday and Thursday, which is not bad for $5 pitchers of MGD and $8 pitchers of Sierra Nevada.
So I think in the end she is learning and I am just butt hurt that I don't get my name called out when I walk in or free shirts when I black out because I drank everyone else under the table=( ooh well, I'm moving out of the neighborhood anyways.

While I like Seniore's it's not at the top of my list of places I like eating. Everything is ok, but that's pretty much the problem. It feels like no effort is put into the food, but that's also why the prices are so good. My friend and I typically tour around and eat somewhere for a month or two on Tuesdays, Seniore's being one of the places. But it was more because or proximity to other places and the beer specials.
Within a week of moving into our new place in the Inner Sunset , we knew we'd found our local pizza joint.
Most pizza places in SF tend to be greasy cheap take-out or yuppie hipster gourmet joints. Milano thankfully sits in a much-needed territory.. cozy but not shady. Lively but not pretentious. Plus the pizza is surprisingly tasty.
My only gripe with the place is that I consistently feel like a diva because they never have anything I ask for.
Fresh basil topping? No.
Meatball topping? No.
Oregano canisters? No.
Carrot on the salad? No.
Diet Coke? No. Pepsi.
Charge? No. Cash.
Ah well. I still like it.
I heart Milano Pizza!!!
When I first tried you, I fell in love with you.

Just about the only decent place that is open past midnight in the sunset. If you know me or read my reviews or both, you know that I tend to be a sucker for places that are open past midnight.
The pizza is good here and once in a while I have the meatball pasta. But what is best about this place is that you can hangout with your friends really late either shooting the sh** or having a writing session.
All in all this place gets 4 stars because its open late, the food is decent and service is good for the most part. But remember I grade pizza parlors on a curve ...
Pros:
-Open Late
-Pizza is edible
Cons:
-Pizza is not great
-service can be slow, but is not most of the time
This place is open super late; we came about midnight and it was relatively full. The pizza isn't Chicago deep dish and its not New York thin crust...it is pretty good bay area pizza. Nothing to write home about but nothing about which to complain.

I went here last night for maybe the third time and it was disappointing. That's probably because I got pizza by the slice fairly late at night. The crust was hard, there wasn't enough sauce, and the pepperoni slices were small and sparse. Maybe it was just an off night but I'm probably going to avoid this place now.

5 stars: open late
4 stars: eggplant parmesan - layers and layers of breaded eggplant baked under a thick casing of gooey cheese, minus one-star because you can't get this with a side of spaghetti .. you have to order another full entree of spaghetti!
2 stars: veal parmesan - got this because it came with spaghetti .. three thin slices of veal coated with breadcrumbs .. the veal was tough and needed a knife to cut through (which I didn't have on me .. it was a to-go order which I subsequently ate while having a beer at Yancy's) .. I didn't like the veal at all .. and the breading totally slid off the veal .. I ended up discarding the veal and mixing up the breading in my spaghetti ... I would've preferred Barilla's spaghetti with some Prego sauce made at home.
2 stars: bread .. thick slices of bread ... I don't find it appetizing but it's free.
This place knows how to make pizza. They've been consisently making good pies for years and it shows. I don't know what some of these places in this city are thinking when they say they make good pizza because I've tried a lot of them and they suck. I just got back from New York City and after searching for good pizza there I found Ray's of Greenwich Village where they make killer pies and where the locals go for good pizza. Milano, fortunately, tastes a lot like Ray's if that tells you anything. Another thing they have in common with NYC pizza is they offer pizza by the slice which is great if you just want to stop in for a quick bite. The only drawback is parking is a bitch so do yourself a favor and either take public transportation or have your pizza delivered. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble. Buon appetito!
Awesome pizza. I would say the best in the inner sunset. Really cheap beer specials. How can you go wrong with good pizza and cheap beer?

If you ever want a cheap slice of comfort food, Milano's is the place to go. There is a convenient parking lot next door. Lots of Irish pubs and different bars on the same street and a few blocks over. I would suggest getting the mushroom, pepperoni, and olive pizza, it's to die for. The crust tastes fresh, it's never crispy or stale. Unlike most other Italian restaurants where I go, they don't overload the pizza with too much sauce. Best part of all, the extra cheese!
There's a sign in the front window that says, Looking for experienced pizza chefs. The sign has been there for a couple months. Hmmm is that a good thing?
Update: The sign is now gone! But replaced with a looking for a driver sign.
The pizza here is pretty good. I'll come in and grab a slice to go once in a while.
