This is the sort of healthy, very good for you, hole in the wall, cash only, Missiony kind of place that makes the neighborhood unique. They specialize in unadulterated juice (duh), and other more jamba juicey smoothies (I think some have sorbet in them). There are a lot of choices and regular specials that the folks there invent on a daily basis. I had a watermelon, ginger, lemon concoction once that was very gingery but pretty refreshing. The restaurant is really just a window on the building, so you order from and wait on the sidewalk while they prepare your juice. It is a bit expensive - $5 for a glass of juice - but I guess you pay for freshness. And there is almost always a small crowd of folks waiting for juice, so it's pretty popular. I'm kind of neutral on the juice craze, so 3 stars.

EXPENSIVE (4.95 + tip) buuut I love it! I'm a terd and only order the almond butter crazy thick milkshake thing (it's pretty sexual) which is probably the worst one you could order, but they have some awesome other flavors too - they even have some healthy options. The people are friendly too.

So fresh and delicious!  I love the creamy berries valencia.  I'm working my way through the smoothie menu here.  The cherry bomb w/ extra ginger is also TDF.

Hits the spot.  Super fresh, super tasty, organic, lots and lots of choices...or custom make one.

Cool dude workers/owners(?).

Creamy Valencia = soy milk, blueberry, other berries, berry sorbet. Very very good.

Good place to get your fiber on!

The price of juice has gone up since the days of early college working in a juice bar. However, considering that your number one asset in capitalist society is your ability to make money.  Being healthy helps to achieve this goal.

So f*ck it!  $6 beet juice here we come.....

Sidewalk Juice is easily my favorite juice bar in the city.  It's convenient, the vibe is laid back, and everyone that mans the walk-up joint is uber friendly.  They'll gladly customize any drink, on or off the menu.  Staying simple, the bulk of the menu focuses solely on beverages:  Smoothies (made with fro-yo or sorbet), coffee, and juices/coolers.  They now also serve Maggie Mudd ice cream.

My first trip for a smoothie wasn't very memorable, and not worthy enough to warrant a review.  It wasn't until recently that I've been frequenting for the juices, which gives places like Judahlicious and Power Source a run for their money.  I'm a fan of the Mission Elixir; the ginger gives it an added kick.  Beware the Green Energy, as it is not for the faint of heart.  It's spicy, tart, and everything in between--not easily palatable.  Interestingly enough, it's said to be the best selling.  Go figure.

The downside is shelling out $5+ for, essentially, a medley of pureed fruits and vegetables in a cup.  The smoothies will satisfy just about everyone, but check out their juices if you can hack it.

Whenever I go to work with a foreign colored beverage, I get, "What is that?"  Then I have to explain it's contents...  I've been lucky to find numerous juice places in the mission area near work to continue this ever mysterious aspect of my presence.
Sidewalk is a good option. I like being able to come up with  my own veg blends. the small seems to be a 12 oz, which is larger than Gratitude's small size.  But I hear from colleagues that Tortas Los Picudos has an even large small at a better value......
I almost walked into the entryway, I missed the hole in the wall window to order.
Juices are organic and supporting the little peeps is good practice.

A bit on the expensive side, but oh-so-good.  The Berries Valencia is my "Emergen-C," --  I get one if I think I might be getting sick, and voila! I am better. Organic juice in any combo you like, made fresh and fast by friendly people.  Just great.

However I have to agree with Tara that "Sidewalk Juice" is a poor name.  Almost as bad as "Urban Bread," which just does not conjure up the right images for me.

Holy wow.  Exactly what I was in the mood for.  I like the little walk-up window and the lack of fluorescent lighting and pretension.  Everyone is super-nice and the service is swift.  The Berries Valencia is awesome.  Thick, with just the right amount of tartness.  I was impressed.  I'll be back for sure.

Sidenote: I'm very pleased that they have acai.  And almond butter (and almond milk!).  And all kinds of other cool ingredients that really delicious in smoothies, but most juice places don't think to carry.

This place kicks ass.  Best smoothies in the area by far.  the staff is super friendly and their passion for their drinks comes through in them.
The Cherry Bomb is tasty, if you love ginger ask for them too knock it up a notch and they will and it will taste superb.
Their original smoothies are super great, but they also have some original combinations that can knock your socks off

Really, there's not much to complain about. There's no atmosphere to be found, seeing as it's a walk-up window. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for -- fantastic beverages.

I got the almond somethingoranother, vegan style, and it was probably the  best blended thing I've ever had. Like a milkshake, but seemingly better for you and twice as delicious. My friend got the, um, Berry Bliss with acai and it, too, was great.

What more do you want? Friendly service, good for you, good tasting, clean, and prompt.

Normally I turn up my nose at anything that's served with a straw and costs five bucks, especially when I can't physically finish it. But not here. Get two straws, share and don't bitch. They don't skimp on the ingredients-- this is like 2 POUNDS of juice.

When my boyfriend was sick the very berry made him better for a whole afternoon (turned out he had walking pneumonia-- kinda hard to conquer). I guess he should have gone for their influenza elixir, but the drink costs 9 bucks-- someone report back whether it's worth it!

Personal favorites: the almond and the peanut butter (warning: Does Contain Nutella!). I also love how Sidewalk Juice smells like a European Hostel and the kids that work there aren't really kids, kind of like how the "Real World" is now. But they are super nice-- and often step outside the juice box to take your order on the sidewalk.

YUMMY! I've been here half a dozen times and gotten something different each visit. My taste buds were excited every time. Steven loves the smoothies with Nutella and/or peanut butter in them.

The people I've encountered working here are super pleasant and helpful. They really seem to enjoy it.

Even when it's cold out, Sidewalk Juice feels like comfort food.

Despite its unfortunate name (really? a place called "Sidewalk Juice" sounded like a good idea?), the smoothies and shakes keep me coming back whenever I feel like something tasty in lieu of lunch, or after lunch but before dinner, on weekends. I always get something I think is called Almond Delight - it's exactly what it sounds like, and creamy to boot. Plenty of other offerings, whether your flavor is citrus, berry or neither.

Sidewalk juice gets five stars for deliciousness, but I have to knock one off for the prices, and I'm tempted to take away another for the smallish sizes . . .

If we're talking about the product though, I owe Sidewalk Juice a lot of goodwill for introducing me to beet-carrot-celery juice - this stuff is the nectar of the gods.  Celery makes it so fresh!  Carrot makes it so creamy and earthy and delicious!  Beet makes it so sweet and juicy!

Dang i wish I could afford five dollar beverages . . . I suppose if I cut into my beer budget this could happen for me, but let's face it, that's not about to happen, ever.   The issue is that this juice is not a social beverage - I can't exactly enjoy it at night with a friend, cause there's no tables, it's a stand - thus I particularly resent the high prices.  $5 beers are easily justified by the presence of a booth at which to park myself.

Really, really good juice though.  a treat.  FRESH.

This place is totally freakin' awesome. They have tons of different juices, smoothies and freezes to choose from, all of which are customizable (right down to the proportions--for example, "Would you like that with low, medium, or lots of ginger?")--or you can just order a totally custom one. They're not astoundingly cheap but I'm pretty sure they're less than any chain juice/smoothie place out there. All the people who work here are super-nice, too!

I just wish they were open later! Whenever I get a pizza for dinner at Serrano's, I'm always cravin' some Sidewalk to go with it...and they're always closed by then. Sigh.

I'm a simple girl and luv  fresh orange/carrot juice-nothing fancy.
Friendly service, I was asked if I wanted the juice made with more carrot, more orange, or a 50/50 concoction. A menu of great healthy  and inventive options. If only Serrano's across the street was as good for me as Sidewalk Juice I'd be in heaven. . .

I used to teach an SAT prep course and advise my students to have a peanut butter and banana shake in the morning on test day. Serious brain food!

Sidewalk has a peanut butter-nutella-banana-vanilla fro-yo-soymilk smoothie.

Seriously delicious. Seriously brainy.

Holy fuckola. I used to live a few doors down from the this little place. Back then it was a tiny story for a seamstress or something like that. I never really knew as it was constantly closed.

Back then, if I wanted something quick to eat, I would either have to choose from Jay's Cheesesteak  (right next door) or Serrano's Pizza (across the street).  If Sidewalk Juice existed then I would have been living a healthy life.

Damn you, Fate! Now I'm fat and I have to walk three blocks to get to Sidewalk Juice.  Oh the humanity!

Well, it is about time they did something with this storefront.  And as mentioned in a previous review, the owner (who owns Valencia Whole Foods and owned the famous Val-21) and his son, who runs the shop, are fantastic people.

Since I no longer presently live in San Francisco (UGH!), I went there for the first time today.  Had the Strawberry Chocolate smoothie.  I also agree with another review about the use of yogurt and sorbet in the drinks.  I do prefer sticking with real fruit and soy and such, but hey it is all good.  I just could not let this be a daily thing.

Fresh juice, friendly staff, literally a hole in the wall...what more do you want from a Mission juice place? Their list of smoothies has something for everyone (that likes smoothies), and they even have a frequent drinker's card. Great place, especially on a warm day. Go there once a week, and it'll still take you a while to get through their menu.

Wow. Definitely a top five smoothie of all time, maybe the best ever.  Now, that could be due to the fact that I was coming home from work, on a Sunday, and knew I only had a good hour at Dolores Park before the sun went down. And I was hungry, but didn't want to ruin dinner. Smoothie sounded perfect. Let's just say this one didn't even make the walk over to the park. I had some concoction with blueberries, strawberries, yogurt, and get this, ground up granola. It was bursting with flavor, and felt totally mission-authentic, which is how I like to roll. There aren't too many sunny days left - hit this perfect spot on the way to the park while you can.

Nice to see a juice bar that doesn't necessarily serve only juice around my block. It was a hot day today and it's nice to cool off to a "Mint Madness". It had cookies and cream so it was a no brainer what I had to ordered. It's blended so smoothly. 16oz for 4.75 isn't that much of a dent when it tastes this good.

An appropriate name for this juice joint, since you literally go up and order at the counter, right on 21st Street. The staff and owner (he's the son of the guy who owns Valencia Whole Foods http://www.yelp.com/bi... across the street) are rare finds: really nice folks who are enthused about making you some smooth juice!

Any of the smoothies are delish. I'm also a fan of a good wheat grass shot and they give a plentiful pour, plus they refill your cup with orange juice to make sure you get any remnants.

Perfect stop anytime you are in the Nission and need a boost of something good.

Tasty treat and fun to order from a window--kind of like a drive-thru but on foot.  Unfortunately, all the smoothies are made with frozen yogurt or sorbet, so, I'm probably gonna stick with my delicious and non-sugar-crash-inducing home-made smoothies.

This place is cool, but for some reason, I always forget about it. The guy who works there is totally about it, he's really upbeat and nice.

I love the whole walk-up-window thing, too! There aren't many places like that in the mission-in fact, the only other one I can think of is that Whiz burger place on SVN.

Anyways, the one time I actually ordered from here, I shared the mint-chip smoothie with toby b....It was a bit "healthy" tasting for me, but I think I'm more of a fruit smoothie person in the first place. I'll be going back.

I may not be a juice smoothie connoisseur, but in my view, what distinguishes an adequate blended juice concoction from a good one is the answer to this question: how's the draw on the straw? A smoothie too thick to slurp is a smoothie made wrong. Thankfully the genial folks at Sidewalk Juice know how to put together a drink with the proper consistency. That this place does not traffic in the modern snake oils of powdered nutritional supplements is a welcome bonus. What's more, if you need/want to avoid dairy, there are drinks available made with sorbet, rather than sherbet or yogurt.

OK, this may be a little odd, but the reason I love this place (aside from good smoothies and friendly staff) is it's proximity to Jay's Cheesesteak.

Did you just eat 10 peppers and your mouth is on fire? Smoothie.
Did you just pickup a huge Cheesesteak and garlic fries? Smoothie.
Have that guilty-calories feeling? Natural, healthy, organic, Smoothie.

Great Place. Nuff' Said. Wait no, Nish gave it 5 stars, that's rare, nuff' said.

This place is pretty much spot on. I love that I can walk over just a few blocks and get a perfectly blended organic smoothie with no muss or fuss. I seriously live for smoothies (It's food! But you don't have to chew it! It's sweet! But it's healthy! But somehow fattening so I still feel guilty!) and I'd say this is my favorite spot to get my fix. The nice staff is a plus too. I eagerly await filling up my frequent smoothie card here.

What a lovely little place to get your drinks to go (it's just a counter- no tables and chairs so far)!  All the baristas including the owner is super firendly.  The menu is expansive with some surprise choices that I will one day try out.  Bought a smoothie- it was tasty.  Haven't tried their coffee yet, but will do soon.  It will be a nice alternative to Ritual Cafe coffee.
